cello, intimate, musical friends
The cello has a striking resemblance to a human voice. Perhaps that should be the other way around: the human voice can sound incredibly like a cello. Either way, this forms the theme for an exceptional evening in which Sven Weyens’s masterful cello playing and full baritone take the leading role. Sven sings songs from Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn and makes his cello sound almost like the human voice in the legendary opening theme of Dvořák’s Piano Quintet, one of the composer’s most beautiful chamber music works.
