Four Unforgettable Pieces
German-French cellist Nicolas Altstaedt is a versatile artist, an instrumentalist of worldwide renown. As a soloist, he performs repertoires ranging from old masters to contemporary pioneers. In his debut with the Residentie Orkest, he plays William Walton’s indescribable Cello Concerto. And Alto Helena Rasker sings one of Diepenbrock’s most beloved pieces, ‘Die Nacht’. The evening concludes with Sibelius’s final symphony, packed with fascinating soundscapes. Many believe this is the best that Finland has to offer. It is certainly one of the high points of the season.
‘An absolute revelation. Nicolas Altstaedt, one of the cello realm’s most brilliant young princes’ – HUFFINGTON POST
