Before the concert we serve coffee, tea, orange juice and a pastry
Gabriel Fauré saw death not as the inescapable end but as liberation, a joyful salvation. This attitude to life is expressed in his world-famous Requiem, a work that first and foremost appears to want to provide comfort: not a mass for the dead but rather for the living. One of the highlights is the tranquil ‘Pie Jesu’ that was sung at Fauré’s funeral, his own salvation.
