In this performance, our principal guest conductor, Richard Egarr, works with Swiss cellist Christian Poltéra for the first time. This top cellist has been commended for his pure, refined playing and the superb sound of his 1711 Stradivarius cello. Poltéra will be playing one of Haydn’s most beloved works, his Cello Concerto No. 1. Egarr will then take us to sunny climes with Mendelssohn’s dazzling Italian symphony.
